Two main refining routes are alkaline refining and physical refining (steam stripping, distillative neutralisation) which are used for removing the free fatty acids.
In small oil refining plant, the phospholipids, pigments, off-flavor, free fatty acids, and other impurities will be removed out from the extracted oil. The complete oil refining process mainly consists of Degumming, Neutralization, Bleaching, Deoderization and Winterization (Optional).
